There are believers worldwide – yes, believers in the Loch Ness Monster. Thousands of enthusiasts travel to Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands every year, hoping to glimpse the fabled monster affectionately known as Nessie. Sightings of the mammoth aquatic serpentine-like creature cannot be confirmed; the evidence seems purely anecdotal.

There have been reports of a monster in the area of Loch Ness as far back as 565 AD. In 2024, a family from Canada reported seeing an object moving against the current that resembled a creature of some sort.

Also, in October 2024, a sonar device seemed to detect an underwater object or formation of considerable size. But again, credible proof of eyewitness accounts is lacking. Nevertheless, the probable monster myth lives on.

There is something reported to be inside every person that has never been picked up by sophisticated medical scanning devices or seen during open heart surgery, nor have laboratory technologists been able to isolate the eternity factor in the human heart. And yet, there is every reason to believe it exists.
Unlike Nessie, there is indisputable documentation to prove its existence —an enduring and credible record that contains a statement of fact. Here it is from the Holy Bible:
He (God) has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, He has put eternity into man’s heart. Ecclesiastes 3:11

In addition to God’s written Record, countless testimonials across all sectors of society point to the eternity factor in the human heart. People do their best to deny the existence of the inner search for the eternal and a built-in thirst for God. They label the uniquely human phenomenon in many ways but refuse to call it for what it truly is.

Lives filled and overflowing with fame, fortune, pleasure and success still crave something more. People who have reached the top still speak of the inner void, the emptiness, the longing, the ‘mysterious’ yearning for something profound inside that, as yet, has never been filled and a need that has never been met. Out of frustration, disappointment, disillusionment and desperation, some contemplate the cessation of their life.

God wired us utterly different than the rest of His creation in at least one critical area — and that is the consciousness of God and the presence of existential thoughts and musings in the mind of every person. God dignified us with the capacity to enjoy an eternal relationship with Him.
Have you thought about the eternity factor in your life? Have you sensed some unidentified dark mass lurking just below the surface? Some shadowy intangible but yet very real surge of thoughts that spook you at times? Something ‘existential’ rises to the surface and breaks through your consciousness, causing you to gasp inside as you think, “What if?” It is the eternity factor. God has placed eternity in your heart. To ignore it is to ignore God, and one does so at their own peril.
We instinctively know that after this life there is more. Life is not all there is and death is not the end. We have an innate awareness of something that transcends ourselves and the here and now.
The Bible compares our short lives to a vapour that appears briefly and then disappears. (James 4:14)

With eternity implanted in your heart and a consciousness of God at your deepest level, you will never be fulfilled or satisfied until God occupies the void and fills the vacancy in your life. Until then, even if you enthusiastically fill your life with pursuits, achievements and modest luxuries, the bottom line is — you will continue to experience discontentment, dissatisfaction, barrenness and emptiness at the end of the day.

Are you restless and unfulfilled? Are you constantly hoping things will improve and you will be more satisfied in life? Are you finding that joy in your life is non-existent or, at best, elusive? Are you still searching for satisfaction?
You can settle the eternity factor in your life now — right at this time. Your inner unrest and unfulfilled longing can be replaced with inner peace and deep satisfaction. Neither religion nor church can meet your deepest need. You need the Lord Jesus Christ! The good news is that He is totally available to you right now if you will have Him. Will you?
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

God lovingly desires a relationship with you. The purpose of having His Son come to earth [Christmas] was for Him to die on the Cross [Easter] for our sins — for my sins!
The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners… 1 Timothy 1:15
The Innocent One was willing to become answerable for my sins and yours. On the Cross, Jesus suffered sin’s penalty so you could enter into an eternal relationship with God through Him and because of Him.
He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree … 1Peter 2:24
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for [on behalf of] the unrighteous, that HE might bring us to God…1Peter 3:18

The moment you embrace, receive, believe, trust, and come to Christ as a guilty sinner, God will accept you forever in His Son Jesus Christ.
Here is an invitation to you from Jesus Himself:
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
Does rest and peace and satisfaction sound appealing? You won’t find it in religion or church. You will find it in Christ alone — the very source of true peace.
If you would like to know where to start reading in the Bible, many find the Gospel of John a very helpful place to start. It concisely summarizes why Jesus Christ is the only answer for the deepest longings of our hearts, the only true safety net and the source of eternal life. Others find the Gospel of Luke instructive as they read the stories of many people whose lives were transformed when they encountered Jesus.

Would you allow this reminder of eternity to speak to your heart, prompt you to do what needs to be done and change what needs to be changed? The unseen eternity is real, for sure. The Loch Ness monster probably is not.
