When the FBI or the MI5 show up at your door, unannounced, with a search warrant, it must be a horrifying experience. With all the power and authority of the American or the British Governments behind them, they start rummaging through your personal belongings. Their warrant says nothing is off-limits.

It is a raid. Drawers are opened. Secret stashes are located. Buried files are uncovered. Computers, tablets and phones are seized. Hard drives, flashdrives, passwords are taken. Private files protected by codes are accessed. Records of credit cards and bank transactions are confiscated. Phone logs, home security videos, and deleted electronic files are recovered.

Even if you have nothing to hide, it must be a very intense feeling of vulnerability. The invasion of your property, the violation of your privacy, and the exposure of your most personal matters would be an experience like no other. If one does have secrets, there must be enormous anxiety. One must be gripped with fatalistic fear.

As I write this – a world leader and his personal lawyer are currently experiencing this intense feeling of vulnerability. Unannounced, the FBI raided the lawyer’s office and hotel room and seized everything they could find related to the scope of the judge-approved search warrant.

While pundits and experts debate the limits and the legality of such an intrusion into the attorney-client privileged relationship, the reality is, the FBI acted with all the authority of the USA Government behind it.

How would you feel about a raid on all your private matters and secrets? Do you have something(s) in your life that even your closest confidant does not know? Perhaps your wife or husband or your family or partner know you inside-out – but yet, there is still something you have never shared with anyone?

Have you ever thought about what God says about your own personal and secret actions, deeds and thoughts? The Holy Bible speaks to this directly:

And this is the message I proclaim—that the day is coming when God, through Christ Jesus, will judge everyone’s secret life. Romans 2:16 NLT

Yes, the Bible warns – “…the day is coming.”

People can live their lives as if God doesn’t exist. But that does not threaten or diminish the reality of the Holy and Almighty God to whom every person is ultimately accountable.

There will be nothing off-limits in a future day. Infinitely better than the greatest intelligence agency on earth, is the omniscience of God. He knows all things. Sees all things. Nothing is hidden from His all-seeing eye.

Jesus said: Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed or hidden that will not be known. Luke 12:2

Jesus said: I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak. Matthew 12:36

The Bible says: For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil. Ecclesiastes 12:14

The Bible says: [God] knows the secrets of the heart. Psalm 44:21

In the Bible, we read a prayer of Moses to God: “…You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.” Psalm 90:8

An ancient king of Babylon (in modern day Iraq) called God: ‘the revealer of secrets’. Daniel 2:47

Those of us who read the Bible can attest to it’s ability to penetrate our hearts as we read it and to expose our thinking. It is the Word of God.

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Hebrews 4:12-13

The most solemn scene in the entire Bible is found in Revelation Chapter 20. It is the Judgment Day when every person who never trusted Christ as their personal Saviour will stand before the Judge – the Lord Jesus Christ. This verse was cited above: “… the day is coming when God, through Christ Jesus, will judge everyone’s secret life.” Romans 2:16 NLT In Revelation 20 – that day has arrived.

Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:11-15

The meta-narrative of the Bible is the story of God’s amazing love and grace in His kindness towards those who rebelled against Him – those who had taken their own way – a world of sinners. Because of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, there is absolutely no need for you or anyone else to face the Judge in that Coming Day.

God, who is Holy and Just, could not ignore sin. That would be like sweeping wrong-doing under the carpet. God, sent His sin-free, perfect, holy Son – Jesus Christ into the world to become the Saviour of Sinners. God’s justice was satisfied at the Cross. The death penalty for our sin fell upon the Innocent One – Jesus. The Bible says: “Christ died for our sins.” 1Corinthians 15:3 The word ‘Gospel’ means – good news!

For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just [the Holy One] for the unjust [unholy, ungodly, sinners], so that He might bring us to God… 1Peter 3:18

The blood of Jesus Christ is mentioned frequently in the New Testament. Blood represents death. Hover over these Bible references and you will see the verses that refer to the blood of Jesus.

1Peter 1:18-19

Revelation 1:5

There is only one way for you to have every secret removed from God’s record. There is only one way for you to have every sin expunged from God’s book. There is only one way for you to have your entire ‘record’ blotted out and to have a beautiful clean record and full acceptance with God. Every sin can be forgiven and all guilt removed forever.

The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1John 1:7

I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins.  Isaiah 43:25
