Dan Brown’s writing skills have catapulted him into the ranks of one of the top fiction writers of our time. His bestseller book The Da Vinci Code has been turned into a movie.

What you need to know is the book is anti-God, anti-Christ and anti-Bible. Dan Brown does not have to overtly say he is fighting against God nor does he have to spell out his hatred for Christ. The evidence is in the fiction he writes.

But hold on a minute. Why all the fuss over his book? The book is marketed as fiction – so why are academics, historians, archaeologists, and Christians disturbed over Mr. Brown’s book?

If it was fiction built around some key historical facts, that would be one thing. Incidentally that’s what most readers believe The Da Vinci Code is. But many of the key historical facts in the book are either dead wrong or grossly distorted. Mr. Brown either failed to do his homework or he intentionally set out to twist and distort key historical facts.

Before the story begins, the reader is alerted to a qualifying statement called the “Fact Page” at the beginning of the book. The statement affirms that “all descriptions of artwork, architecture, documents and secret rituals in this novel are accurate.”  But very basic research proves how false Dan Brown’s statement of truth is.

BROWN SAYS OTHER THINGS IN HIS BOOK ARE FICTION BUT THIS IS FACT –
The Secret Documents Guarded by The Priory of Sion.

At the heart of the novel is an organization called the Priory of Sion. This ancient society supposedly guarded deep and dark but documented secrets (Dossiers Secrets) about the marriage of Jesus and Mary Magdalene and the children they produced. But here’s the deceit: yes, the Priory of Sion existed but it was established in 1954 (not 1099 AD) by Pierre Plantard as a social club to lobby for lower cost housing in France.

What about those ancient documents protected by the Priory of Sion that discredit the deity of Jesus Christ and expose his marriage and progeny? The same con-man Mr. Plantard authored those supposedly ancient documents and mischievously planted them in France’s National Library. He confessed to this crime a few years ago and swore under oath that the entire Priory of Sion was a scam.

Brown tells the readers the ‘secret documents’ are real. In Chapter 48 of the novel the reader is told the Dossiers Secrets have been “authenticated by many specialists and incontrovertibly confirmed.” French court records from the early 1990’s tell us they’re completely fake. Forgeries.

To the unsuspecting reader, one might think ‘other’ things in the novel are fiction, but at least the thrust of the book is anchored to some credible historical facts. But based on the hoax and forgeries I just shared with you, delete any and all references to and inferences from the secret documents guarded by the infamous but fictitious Priory of Sion – delete all of that from Mr. Brown’s book and ask yourself: what is there in this book that should change my spiritual outlook on life?

In Lee Strobel and Garry Poole’s recently released book entitled: Exploring The Da Vinci Code, the following statistics are cited: 1 out of 3 Canadians who have read the book now believe there are descendants of Jesus walking among us today. (Decima Research). 53% of Americans who’ve read the book said it was helpful in furthering their understanding. (Pollster George Barna)

I wonder why a piece of fiction could alter the beliefs and thinking of so many bright people? Here is what someone said in another context: “When people stop believing in God, they don’t believe in ‘nothing’ – they believe in anything.

Here is what the Apostle Peter said:
“… there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. (2) And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. (3) And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

2Peter 2:1-3 ESV

NOTICE

There is more coming on this website regarding The Da Vinci Code. Next we will look at the distortion of facts surrounding the Emporer Constantine. Was he really responsible for elevating Jesus to Deity status? Is it true that up until 325AD – no one believed that Jesus was the Christ, God Incarnate?
